A Little About Me...
I am a transplant from southern Oregon to Edmonds, Washington which is just north of Seattle. A mother of two boys...they are the light of my life--besides my awesome hubby of course.
I am utterly sensitive and honest. My most favorite place to be other than home is at the bank of a river! The smell and the sound of the water brings such solace. Someday I hope we will be able to retire to a place that is near a river.
NOT a fan a crowds, although I do love people watching from a quiet distance.
I grew up on a small farm in Southern Oregon, which I loved mostly for the animal interaction. Being quite a bit younger than my siblings, they were not entirely interested in their little sister tagging along, therefore I found comfort hanging out with the animals. It turns out they did not care so much that I was young and seemed happy to have me around... I did not do well with the part where we had to eat our animal friends though...perhaps that should have been told (warned) and explained to the little girl... all that is to say, to this day I have issues with *my* eating meat.
My mother was a wonderfully talented, artistic person in many mediums and was a great inspiration and quite supportive. We did not have much money when growing up, which definitely required some imagination to make and create "beautiful" works of art -- like painting leaves and dried mud pies. I dabbled in making clothing for my dolls and small, very rustic and primitive furniture pieces. Eventually my mom gave me pieces of my grandmother's old costume jewelry to take apart and make something new, and so began my love for creating jewelry.
Today my jewelry is intuitive, personal, and still carries with it the organic and rustic vibe my creations had long ago. I have found that if I am not feeling centered or balanced, I have a hard time getting started in my studio... therefore, long walks, river gazing, watching the sweet critters in my gardens and music tend to settle anxiety and tension and becomes my muse. I am grateful for my small family and my sanctuary which is my comfortable light-filled home and studio, and that I am able to work from within these walls.
I will not put pieces out that I don't feel connected to, so I absolutely love hearing back from people that are excited and pleased to have my work and how it makes them feel.
